after buying a cheap sd card camcorder which had bad sound and picture i bought this and the quality is much better picture quality is good and picks up quiet sound to. great optical zoom easy to use, only downside is i have got to finalize the discs before my computer can read the data.
I couldn't believe that I could purchase a new mini DVD camcorder for under £30. Of course I could, as I soon discovered there was more costs to come. Firstly, As good as the picture quality is, it's not HD, I knew that. A mini DVD ram disc cost about $16 or a pack of rewritable discs cost £12. I'd need to purchase a second battery also an external mic as there is some motor hum from the DVD drive *(not perfect) but let's face it, it would make a perfect gift for the kids, they could shoot 30 minutes of footage and watch it on the home DVD player immediately. At best it might lead to a future career in Cinematography or update their webcam for youTube.

I wanted to get a good value DVD camcorder for my daughter, to help her with her media studies course at college. She had ben borrowing college property, which was oten broken and poor quality. THe Hitachi DZ-GX5060E DVD Camcorder is a really good, small sized camcorder.
Didn't use is too long yet. First impression that it is very small and light. Operation looks very easy, has not very longlife battery, but it is enought to record 30 minutes DVD disk. I would say it is very basic camcorder, doesn't even have any special efects, no night vision and I still don't understand how to make to date be visual when recording. It does have date set up, but somehow I can't make it show when recording and afterwards when playing DVD. Actually I still like it, because I don't use any effects when filming, and I haven't need to record in the dark. For me it's enought, hope will last for a longer time. I paid about £160 on eBay including delivery.
