Leverage is your friend. Cut 3/4 of the way through the massive log in as many sections as the length of the tree allows you to cut and then roll it with ease with this Cant Hook and finish your cuts. This keeps your chain out of the dirt. You will also need the Logrite Picaroon so that you can easily get the log you want out of the pile rather than walking into the log pile and fumbling around.

It really is a beautiful piece of American craftsmanship. I'm not sure how any logger wouldn't be proud to show this off. The beautiful paint job, the welds, the hook are all remarkable. I would have definitely given it 5 stars except for one pretty significant safety flaw. For those who are unfamiliar with how Cant Hooks work, you would almost be drawn to lift it up by putting your hand just underneath the reinforced band and raise it handle down. The problem is the hook will swing open when you do that and the engineering didn't leave enough space between the handle and the maximum opening of the hook creating not only the possibility but real life occurrence of this smashing into the upper thumb causing a very nasty bruise on my wife's back of her hand. By repositioning the 2nd bolt on the clamp that holds the hook out by say 1/2" that hook wouldn't swing open quite as far allowing space between your hand and the hook in cases where it's picked up incorrectly. You would lose a bit of opening which is my guess why they designed it as is but, in today's world, they are opening themselves up to unnecessary risk. Honestly, if they offered me a new one with this little design change I'd take it in a heartbeat. It'll always be a risk sitting around the garage that someone inadvertently picks it up handle down and the natural tendency would be to grab just below the reinforced collar and in a moment's notice, a bad bruise or worse. Otherwise a true beauty of American workmanship that I couldn't be happier with.Read full review

Extremely well made. The price is definitely worth it, no complaints whatsoever. The 48" is good for ~ 30" maybe 36" if they are nice and round. If you have a lot of knots, crappy stuff, or 30"+ wood I'd probably get the 60". Better to be a little long than blow a nut!

Solid as a rock. Wooden handle peavey's are junk. This is the best log roller in the forest. Made in USA, and will make your lumberjack days easy again.

Tool is well made and durable. Purchased for use with my sawmill, it would be difficult without it.
