Okay, so reviews of this product vary. I first used it at the weekend to photograph scouts learning to scuba dive in a pool. I had intended to use an old DSLR to test this out, while relying on a compact camera in it's own dedicated underwater hard housing. But the results for that were not good, and the old DSLR battery died. So I risked my best DSLR in it, whilst taking care to keep checking for any ingress. No water got in during 2 hours of shooting, and I was very pleased with the results. It is tricky to use - it can be hard to locate your eye to the viewfinder, for obvious reasons. Changing settings is not really possible, although I did manage to change the ISO successfully when in the bag - just don;t try to do it when up against time pressures! The finger sockets in the lens section enabled zooming (although it takes time). If your lens is a zoom, when it shortens you risk the surround of the lens surroud impinging on the shot, which happened to me quite a lot until I got used to holding it flush to the lens end (and potentially pushing the zoom back and shorting the range by mistake. One thing to watch for - it will have some bouyancy, so I ended up borrowing some diving weights to help me stay down. But for the price, I am very happy that I took the risk of buying this, given I could not afford a dedicated housing. I'd not risk taking it deep though - I have clicked YES to good depth range as I can't click NO as I don't know! It worked fine in a pool up to 1 metre.Read full review
