I have to say that i have never worked with a MacBook Air before.well surprise surprise very nice in deed.It reminded me when i thought Mercedes Sports car were for ladies and the Porsche was for the men. This is how i look at the MacBook Air.So light but so quick. So small but still cute. This is a all round for the ladies without losing the power. This is the new age because everything is done by WI-FI.Streaming and backing up is made easy for the MacBook Air.But you do need a Apple Extreme and a external hard drive(Portable 1TB if possible) to really see this baby rock.Because we are network at home the wife has a MacBook Air and my Daughter has one too.But i have a MacBook Pro being the man of the house lol...Great for the ladies not to sure about the guys..
The boot-up is fast, and the LCD's are very crisp and clear. The keyboard has a nice quality to feel to it and the keyboard backlighting for use in dim light is a nice feature. There's also a camera built into the lid for video chat and selfies. The USB and Firewire port are conveniently hidden away on the side and revealed by flipping up a small cover. There's only 1 USB port but you can use a USB port-expander if you need more. Mac Air's can boot from the USB stick or a DVD drive..press ALT + CMD + R with power button at same time for boot options. Mac Air's support some flavours of Linux with their intel processors. The touch-pad is very responsive and the click buttons below it are very easy to use, unlike some laptops which use a different approach. Amazingly the battery last a long time - average time from new battery about 4-5 hours. Also MacBook Air's don't get too hot if you set the power mode to economy, else they can get quite hot due after a couple of hours use, due to the thin metal casing. If you happen to buy one of these second hand, here's a few tips to get your MacBook Air running as good new: 1. If you have an old HDD consider changing it for a modern SSD drive which can be 10-20 times faster. And being solid-state it will produce no noise and less heat. Older spinning magnetic HDD's are likely to fail eventually in Macbook Air's from 2008-2009 era, so it's best to replace them before they do unless you use 'time machine' and keep regular backups. You can use 'time machine' to make a complete backup of your system and put it onto the new SSD drive using a cheap external DVD drive connected to the USB port. 2. Early MacBook Air's can be upgraded to OSX 10.7. This can be tricky though official means. You can buy a cheap USB installer stick with OSX 10.7 preloaded on from eBay and install OSX 10.7 that way. It works just fine, you can access iTunes, Apple Apps Store etc. It is not possible though to upgrade higher than 10.7 without encountering problems. 3. Check the condition of the battery (OSX tells you a lot of info about the battery health and expected life remaining). Old batteries should be replaced as soon as they start degrading, because they expand and can cause pressure marks on the LCD and other issues, due to the Mac Air being so thin. You can buy a new battery online for early Mac Air's for £25 and it's a relatively simple job (just takes time) to remove the cover and replace. Just don't lose all the tiny screws! Pros: Very slick ultra-thin and light design, a design icon. Extremely affordable for an entry-level MacBook Air. Very fast & powerful, compared to Windows laptops (even modern ones) running Windows.Cheap new battery replacements readily available for £25. MacAir's have a fail-safe OSX rescue/reinstall mode which can be triggered by pressing certain keys and the power button. So even if your hard disk backup restore or completely reinstall. There's many options including reinstalling free over the Internet from Apple. Cons: Battery replacement requires taking the back cover off and can be fiddly. RAM is limited to 2GB in early models and cannot be upgraded. The case tends to scratch easily so you need to be careful, definitely no keys near it! Only supports up to OSX 10.7 (Lion) but will happily run most modern apps still. Because the case is so thin, pressure marks on the LCD can be a problem as old batteries tend to expand inside. Summary: Older MacBook Air's (2008-2009) are well worth the money if you're after a stylish looking MacBook which is ultra-portable and can run a fairly modern OSX but won't cost you a fortune . Just be aware that the RAM cannot be upgraded, and battery replacement although very cheap is a little more involved than other MacBook's and needs some patience. Cost: £130-£230 good condition full working order, with a few bargains below £100 if you don't mind doing a £25 battery replacement or hard disk replacement!Read full review

This is a brilliant product - perfect size, nice and fast, good price used at least 50% off the cost of the new ones, and there is not that much difference spec wise. I use it every day for work, and wouldn't get anything else now.
Dont buy a used one unless your certain the hinges have been replaced or the laptop is near new with no hinge looseness. Otherwise a great machine, very sexy and have a good resale value. Mac have good customer service also.
