Agree with everything charlesturner said; it does roast pretty fast and if you were hoping for a fire- and-forget machine, well, forget it. I tend to wedge the lid open slightly to reduce the internal temperature (it also seems to accelerate the airflow that circulates the beans, which must be good), and then I set an alarm for 6 minutes. After six minutes I come back to the roaster and supervise the last few minutes as it does not take much to overdo the the beans. Nor do I use the roaster's cool-down mode; I just dump the hot beans into cold metal colander once they are done. Despite all of the above, I am very pleased with the machine as it gets the jobs done, has decent capacity, and is streets ahead of the popcorn roaster I used to use, and the resulting espresso is really terrific and better than just about anything you can buy in a cafe.Read full review

Pretty simple operation, but very unsubtle roasting. Can't see how you'd ever use 13 minutes, beans start to burn at 7 minutes so you have to watch very carefully to make sure that you switch to cool early enough. Having said that the roasts I've done have been very good.
