After the last 2 fairly incipid albums, Bowie got it perfectly right his time around. His fascination with space has been evident throughout his many albums, and much of these new lyrics are centred around space/afterlife etc. No change there, however, it is in the delivery that he outclasses his last 2 albums. ie some of the songs on this album are simply superb The opening song (Blackstar), which is the name of the album, has 3 different changes in tempo- at first I thought it was a new song half way through but it was just typical and brill Bowie doing what he does best. A couple of songs I am still not too sure about but these are massively overtaken by other powerful and sometimes amusing songs (eg "I didn't know she was a whore") Overall it was a testament and fantastic end to his career-- what a way to sign off!!......but knowing Bowie, he may still have something to emerge from his locker of songs....ie is it the last album he ever wrote? Or will there be a post-death release of new material -maybe he will find Major Tom up there after all! Well done Mr BowieRead full review

I actually brought it for my wife as we were moved by final Bowie documentary. But to be honest I didnt actually enjoy it that much and found it ok but difficult music,(wife likes it though) and it seemed better when also watching a video of him while listening... Hunky Dory was always my fave album. He was a brilliant devout artist but his star had definitly turned black. RIP (Rock In Paradise) David.

We have watched over the decades how David Bowie morphed from one persona to another, breaking new ground with fantastic songs and styles. Blackstar as an album astonishes, and defies the fact this man was desperately ill ,and at 68 years old, he still blew me away. Jazzy, rocky, and always on the money, it is a superbly crafted, almost a sad goodbye from the genius we all loved. I was hypnotised by the lead track, a powerful and beautiful tour de force. For me, without doubt, the album of the year, or even decade, yes i rate it that highly. God bless the man, he went out on an absolute high....Five star for the Blackstar.
