For the price, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the product. The receiver is quite sensitive, getting all the stations clearly and is easy to set up. An excellent feature (which I had to use recently) is its ability to constantly charge itself; so that it can be portable. There was a power cut here recently, which meant that the radio 'came into its own', providing me with several hours of entertainment, while the fault was fixed in the network!

I have 4 DAB radios - 2 old &1 new which are mains powered and 1 new which has a rechargeable battery but is for travel use. They get good reception almost everywhere in the house. I wanted a larger, rechargeable radio for use in the garden, bathroom etc and thought the Majority Newnham represented very good value for money. However, it rapidly became apparent that whether it was operating on mains or battery power there weren't many places it would work. When I did find somewhere the aerial had to be fully extended (so no good on desktop/under a shelf) and the reception/sound was patchy. I couldn't be asked to send it back so am keeping it charged up in the garage and will use it in the garden, as there's more places to put it down somewhere where it will pick up a signal. Shame, as it's a nice looking radio, although the on/off switch at the back is tiny and awkward for anyone with poor eyesight or arthritic hands and there is definitely a knack to pre-setting the stations.Read full review

Good radio , easy to use , rather poor battery running life though. find it stops suddenly when needing charged. Tried a portable charger pack which does recharge the radio but it would not run from it ,seemed to effect signal. a facility to run from an external power pack would be useful. Whilst not an approved mod. i fitted a larger capacity battery (salvaged from solar charger) and it now plays for 18 hours before needing a (longish) charge -works well at bottom of garden and in summer house.

Bought this as a replacement for a Pure set. Sound quality not as good but acceptable. On/off switch at rear of set is fiddley and volume defaults to 'quite loud' every time you turn the set on. Built-in rechargeable battery is a big bonus. Overall a good purchase for the money

The on/off switch is awkward as it is very small and positioned out of sight on the rear of the unit. But otherwise it seems good value for money. Re-chargeable battery especially useful for sitting in the garden in summer!
