The story lines are engageing. Acting superceeds any of today, the actors had to have a fantastic imagination no green screens then. The amazing scaled props which were challenging to the actors physically and real. The series was made in the days when we all had to use our imaginations and believe in what we saw . Such a pitty the production cost 250000 per episode prevented the series concluding in a return to earth It is a timeless series for generations ,picture quality still good ,maybe they will remaster one day although still good. A. Childhood favourite.

There are 51 episodes which were made between 1968 and 1970. In this boxset you get every episode (even the unaired Pilate "The Crash").This is besides the TV version of The Crash. There is also a cast-commentary of this episode on the final disk of series 2. This was so engaging to hear the joy of the actors describing the series and what we are watching. I watched the series as a very young child and it was amazing to see it again as I really do not remember anything about the actual stories. There are also a lot of special features. One is the MAD Magazine Parody which has cartoon strips where it (in a very entertaining way) makes fun of the series. Captain Steve Burton becomes "Capt Stiff Bourbon". Betty becomes "Booty". Fitzhugh becomes "Fitz-phew". Barry becomes "Bury". Valerie becomes "Diary". It is so funny to read the comic strips parodying the series. And the artwork is first class. This is the most expensive TV series of all time costing an average of $250,000 per episode. Bearing in mind that would now run in to millions in todays money. Hence why there were only 51 episodes made. They did almost all of their own stunts and the sets were built to scale - unlike today's rubbish where everything is computer-generated. If you want to immerse yourself in a fantasy adventure, THIS is the series to watch. The only criticism is that the DVD case which holds all 14 disks is too small and disks have to piggy-back one another which makes it very awkward to get to the disks. Great care needs to be taken not to damage the disks. But don't let this put you off. Just take care when removing the disks as some can be a bit tightly held in place. I RECOMMEND THIS WITHOUT HESITATION. Yes, they are currently being shown on The Horror channel. But, you cannot beat getting the boxed set.Read full review

Started watching the show about a year ago on MeTv. Really like it. The DVD set is great. Now I don't have to stay up really late on Saturday nights to see the show.
