The gtx480 runs hot, gets loud, and eats enough power to run a normal PC. However, it produces some very nice graphics on games from 5+ years ago in high to ultra settings (Skyrim and Bioshock Infinity look great!) while still having enough power to run some modern titles in lower settings. However, you can get a better and newer gpu for around the same price with much less power requirements. Also, 1.5gb of vram is quickly becoming too little space for modern games. Overall, it's not doing too bad for an 8 year old gpu, but better options are available at the same price point.

Had the card about 6 months and it died. Manufacturer would not honor warrantee. Would not use EVGA or NVIDIA again. Great performance! Great graphics! Overclocked from the manufacturer and proud of it! Flexible software to enhance the card. Exceptional support from both eVGA and NVIDA. Card fan sound and heat very acceptable, actually sounds cool. If you want absolute quite, get the "from the factory" FTW liquid cooled option. I had an install question, called eVGA and spoke to a very knowledgeable/helpful tech in moments. He answered my overly cautious question with professionalism and relatability. Highly recommended. Beats AMD/ATI at all levels. I have had major tech issues with ATI and their customer non-service. DO NOT let this negative comment lead you to believe I am biased. Just had great results from NVIDA and their affiliates, not so much from AMD/ATI. Regards, AndyRead full review
I bought this card because of 2 reasons: it's powerful and it's rather cheap nowadays, especially used ones. This card is a demon. It can max out nearly any game you like. But it's a demon, so it runs hellish hot and roars like an army of armageddon. Liquid cooling or aftermarket air coolers are highly recommended as they eliminate both its disadvantages leaving only advantages remain. To sum it all GTX480 is a very good choice. Russian gamers on a budget recommend :)
good replacement card for mine until I can replace them for a newer card. These cards run hot and loud (I have two and they warm up the office nicely when playing games), it's just the way they are...
