First, it came without any instructions. As a novice to making briquettes my first attempts were a complete failure. After researching them on-line I had slightly more success but it was pretty clear that without some fancy press they were never going to be that great. The handles on this device that you push down on to squeeze out the weather are simply not hand friendly so you can't exert much pressure without hurting them. I now forget the handles and stand on the top tray to squeeze the weather out but this requires a good sense of balance. I also line the tray with newspaper before filling it with wet shredded paper as this helps to keep the briquette together as it dries.

The steel is not strong enough to take the full force needed to extract water from shredded paper. Retaining clips fell off and the arms buckle. With care it does work but requires a lot of patience and sustained effort.
