I bought this to replace a SIP TopMig Turbo 215 unit that I had been borrowing for classic car body repairs, and I am very impressed with it. The build quality seems to be good, and I am finding it easier to set-up and weld with than the TopMig. The wire delivery is smooth, predictable and reliable and I am getting way less (zero in fact) wire-delivery birds-nests than I did previously. The torch hose is plenty long enough for my purposes, a proper Euro-torch and of good quality - in fact maybe unnecessarily long at 4m when the earth lead is only 2m long. The LED displays seem somewhat superfluous as they are only valid during actual welding when you can't see the screen, but that doesn't affect it's usability. I did have some concerns that it would not cope with thin car body-work at low power due to it's quoted 50A minimum rating but in practice found myself welding at the 2-3 settings on the dials for panels down to around 0.8mm, and around 8-9 for 4mm box section - and all running off a standard 13A mains outlet. This might be an issue if you were doing some serious welding runs non-stop, but for typical car bodywork where you need to regulate your pace to avoid warping and/or check your progress fairly regularly, it coped without any problems at all. This unit is a little unusual in that the manufacturer insists you can do flux-core welding without changing the polarity of the terminals - I tried it but quickly went back to standard gas MIG as the flux-core gave off lots of spatter and fumes which quickly coated the welding mask and everything else nearby! Not sure if this is a feature of the welder, the particular wire I was using or a general feature of flux-core MIG though. Maybe more valuable if you need to do any welding outdoors in windy conditions... I have not tried stick-welding with this (or any other) unit - why would you when you can do nice, clean MIG welds? Disclaimer: I am a self-taught novice at MIG but I am really getting on well with this unit. My only concern is on availability of spare parts once the warranty expires as the supplier was somewhat vague on that, but fingers-crossed I won't need any for many years...Read full review

A heavy duty MIG for £230 is a bargain. The voltmeter and ammeter can not be used to set the welder as they only function during welding. Will weld 20swg (old car) thickness set on 1.5V and 1.5 wire speed with 0.8mm wire. Gasless flux wire works well, but the lead polarity has to be reversed requiring modification to the welder. Only use branded or well recommended gasless wire, not cheap stuff, the quality of the flux affects the weld and spatter a lot. Gasless wire is rolled from sheet round a flux core which is anhydrous (sucks moisture from atmosphere), so don't leave the opened flux wire anywhere damp, including in the welder. A decent robust welder, but £50 more or so would get one with reversible lead polarity and proper metering. Leads are aluminium wire, light but not upto full current load, good enough and the torch lead is usefully long.Read full review

I wish I had this product in the range when I sold Welding equipment for a living. Initially I used it for stick welding but now ive got it set up for mig and it took seconds to establish optimum conditions. The arc is smooth because of the great link between wire feed speed and voltage. And what you get for the price is a great mig/ stick machine. 10/10

Not really worked it hard yet but for a hobby welder like myself seems to have all features needed and is small, lightweight and quiet in operation. Easy to control and create clean welds (I use Argon/Carbon Dioxide mix). Ridiculously cheap for what it is, assuming it lasts.
