Most features are excellent - it is easy to use and set up. It can, however, be a little difficult to download and set up free POIs as the file extensions don't always match and have to be changed. Also in London it did try to send me up a couple of one way streets and is confused when surrounded by tall buildings. The voice commands tends to to be a little tinny - better on the male voice. The key issue is with Garmin, the company. This is my second Garmin 1690 - the first was stolen from my car. I had only recently upgraded the maps and European speed cameras. It is annoying that Garmin will not allow such files to be transferred to the replacement even when the customer can provide a crime number. They benefit from the theft of one of their devices.
got it for a friend and hes over 76 years he finds it good to use and the price was verry good for him

The Garmin 1690 arrived after 4 days from ordering and was in its original unopened packaging. Its ease of use is as said and so far have not had any problems while using thw 1690. The purchase was driven by the need for work having to go to various supplier's when sent on various taskings, we use Tom Tom at work and compare to this they are no match, very happy with my purchase and recommend.
