Without decrying anything Avro Lancasters, Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires did in World War 2, for me the De Havilland Mosquitto spells out what was really needed to take the fight to the Axis powers often without their knowing they were a target. The commonality was the Rolls Royce Merlin engines (different variants naturally). The uniqueness was that the D H Mosquito was primarily a wooden airframe. It could fly at wave top height across the Channel and North Sea, scuttle between telegraph poles, fly just above railway tracks, attack the target and be on the way back to Blighty before FW190s and ME109s even scrambled. I hope to collect as many books and memorabilia of the D H Mosquito as financially viable. I wish all the luck to the work restoring The Peoples Mosquito. There are hardly any left airworthy. Quite sad. Read full review

This aircraft spectacular is like the rest of the series. Wonderful artwork including profiles, and line drawings. The text is accurate and by an informed writer who avoids the clichés & 'legends' that are repeated in other 'histories'. Good for aficionados, enthusiasts & modellers, however, as this book by nature provides only an overview of combat & service history, those looking for detailed operational history should look elsewhere.

Another great title from the pen of Mr Sweetman, his knowledge and style of writing gives the reader an excellent resource to use, and Mr Watanabe's artwork is just amazing. Well worth adding to anyone's collection.
