Well lets start with what I Love---That would be the ultra lite (awesome) Plane to fly and easy to control while checking out whats below. The scenery is not too bad but it doesn't compare to X Plane9 which is totally awesome!!!! At lirst I had some difficulty with the scenery in turns--it would jump and freeze and distort until I went into custom scenery control and increased the frame rate,(which was at 7) ,to 20-30.Then it ran ok! Microsoft has generally improved the program from 2004 though and I do like the idea of NOT needing a disk in the d-drive to operate it! How ever If I could do it all over again I would just have bought X Plane9. You do need 1 GIG of dedicated video memory card but it is by far a better program using satelite pictures for scenery and has 6 disks of information with it. So if you don't have a computer that would handle the extra info then I would say Go with Flight simulator XRead full review
I bought this simulator after having tried to load a cheaper simulator onto my PC which failed and was difficult to install. In contrast the Microsoft simulator was a doddle and didn't require any new graphics card. With the many expansion packs available I think I will be kept busy for a long time, I have reached "circuits" in the training school. I think you really need a proper joystick, but all the keyboard commands are reassignable to joystick buttons. I did need to change the throttle sensitivity to get it to work properly with the simulator, as it was not reaching maximum at first. Recommended.

As a simulator, it ddoes exactly what it is supposed to do. It is excellent at producing at very lifelike example of what it is like in a plane. Absolutely first class - it really is a shame that Microsoft have given it all up and handed it over to another Company.
