This scanner is very easy to use and does a very good job of reproducing slides into digital pictures. It is not perfect, but for the price is very close. I scanned over a thousand slides in a day so the processing routine goes very smoothly once you learn the ropes. The slide carrier works like a charm once you get the hang of it and if the slides are in good shape. One suggestion I have is to not do much adjusting with the machine and do needed correction on your post processing computer software. It is faster and more accurate that way than using the PIC 2. I have only one complaint. I went through my slides so fast I am out of things to scan.

This is a very slow scanner. It scans one picture at a time and the first time I tried it, the picture got caught inside of the machine. If you have more than say 10 pictures to scan it would be much faster just to use an app for the phone and scan pictures manually. I am very sad I bought this. I thought it was going to be much faster and better.

First of all, this unit was not "new." It was well cared for and properly repackaged, but there is a photo inside the case that must have fallen off the carrier. The price was right however, so this is a non-problem. The resolution is good for a consumer product. Very easy to use and transfer to PC is seamless. No special software required.

Over the years I have accumulated thousands of photos between my travels and family milestones being documented. This Ion PICS2SD was exactly what I needed to digitize all of the photos from the past. The instructions were a little difficult to understand, but the scanner itself is extremely easy to use. I was able to figure it out just by playing with it for a couple of minutes. I thought it worked rather quickly, I was able to get through over 100 slides in an hour. The scans were sharp, clear, and they looked like there were very high quality once I uploaded them on to my computer. I would suggest putting a thicker piece of paper behind pictures to scan because occasionally the brightness of the scanner takes away from the pictures. I also like the fact that I don't have to use my computer to upload the pictures, I could use an SD card if I wanted to, so it's nice to know I have options in case I need a Plan B. I am impressed with this item's quality for the price that I paid. There is no need to overspend on a high end scanner when this piece of equipment does a fantastic job.Read full review
Recently came across trays of family slides that date back 30 to 50 years. I was looking for a easy and inexpensive way to share them with family across the country. With the ION Audio Pics 2 SD Slide and Film Scanner I spent two evenings scanning these slides. I then posted the "Best of the Best" using a private Facebook page to share with family. I also saved all 1200 slides digitally to smart sticks to give to siblings (for them to share with their children and grandchildren). I could not be more pleased with how this project turned out. I do want to mention that I also used the film scanner feature as well with the same positive results. However, I found scanning actual photos will producing a satifactary results was too time comsuming when I already own several flat printers that do a great job scanning photos and do not require the time to insert individual photos in a frame.Read full review
