If you not bothered about your books standing up or staying the shelf, they are just the ticket. They are cheap and look like bookends. But if you are looking for something to actually hold your books upright and not in a massive pile on the floor, these don't really do it. To call them heavy duty is a trade description violation frankly. Hey - I fell for it - £7 isn't going to get you heavy duty. I'm just really gullible - I only have myself to blame

I do not think these bookends should be called 'heavy duty'. I have had to put 2 together in order to stop my books from moving. I already have some simikar ones and they really are heavy duty and I thought these would be the same.

Have bounced off a high-lift jack handle on several occasions, pulling on the straps. Can’t seem to break them. Threads all look good as new, ratchets are quality, the straps and hooks are all taking the abuse.
