I purchased this picker head after years of using a stepladder and long-pole pruner to harvest the apples from my trees. It worked well for me, although it has a few limitations. The tines at the far end of the picker head were easy to maneuver around my apples, which then enabled me to pull the fruit from the tree. The tines don't look very thick, but they were strong enough to do the job. Inside the basket was a sponge-like pad to cushion the fruit in the basket. It did a good job at cushioning, but it isn't anchored to the basket in any way, and the friction isn't quite enough to keep it really secure. It's not really a major problem. My only significant complaint is in how the picker head attaches to a pole. I thought there would be a threaded fitting that screws onto the standard pole end, but instead there's just a radiator hose clamp. Although I tightened it pretty firmly when I first installed the head on the pole, it worked its way loose after bumping the head against the tree branches many times. I tried tightening it further, but haven't had the opportunity to use the picker again after that adjustment. A threaded fitting would certainly work better, with the band clamp to hold everything in place after the head is screwed on. But unfortunately, there is no such threaded fitting. The picker head still worked quite well despite this design flaw, so I'm still rating the product 4 stars overall.Read full review

It’s only the part pictured but a good fiberglass solid pole try here or paint in a box store. Compare and decide. I had a nice pole I don’t like painting so yippee winner here I unscrewed my end thread like a paint roller has well I attached it immediately I did add a second clamp with the 1st opposite direction from each other to get the best grip. I’m A-Ok now great product, simple use, yes you will need to practice but patience is key it’s up to you. I’m 110% happy with the entire product. Virginia has some nice apples coming I love church apple butter 3 days hard work and the love of the lord and friends. This fruit picker is a modern take on an old design. It's sturdy and works perfectly. I actually mounted it on a 16' pole!

This little thing does what it is supposed to. The only problem I have is it doesn't pick the fruit itself LOL. But it is of good quality and works well. I picked all the grapefruits of our tree and when our oranges are ripe I will pick them.
