I've been promising myself a garden cam camera for sometime as I wondered what went on the garden during the night. I wasn't disappointed. First two nights replay it caught a fox, a badger, a cat and my wife putting out the rubbish! A clear black and white picture at night time and good colour during the day. Take your time in reading the instructions and try a few test runs. Not sure how long the batteries will last - early days. Hope to fix it with a 6V adapter. I think it is a good product for the price and cheap enough for me to consider purchasing another one for a different part of the garden.

The problem with this unit is the battery box. The + terminal for each of the 8 batteries is recessed by about 1.2mm. On all the batteries I have, the + terminal 'pip' is about 1.2mm to 1.4mm raised above the body of the battery case. So the + terminals barely make contact. This manifested itself in the unit not operating as it should, particularly at night and in cold conditions, specifically it would not take the full 2mins video I had set it to, the length it actually made varied between 2 and 16 seconds. Also, sometimes the IR lighting failed to illuminate the scene, or lit it very poorly. My reading of this was that there was too much voltage drop in the battery box due to the poor design described above.

Ok for the price, low quality picture but is ok for what I wanted. I wanted to know what was eating the hedgehog food I put out - hedgehog or a cat? Interpolated images are a little pointless, it might generate the pixels but of little advantage. Pretty easy to use and adjust settings, shame there isn't a waterproofed on off switch on the outside instead of having to open the camera up to switch on, always ends up taking video of me walking away! That said I'm not disappointed, all depends on your expectations.

This replaces a wildlife camera I damaged. The new cam. Is superior in every respect - more features, higher quality lens, additional connection cables. I'm very impressed.

Trigger time means you might need to be careful setting up your site, but generally fine for most situations. Fairly intuitive to use and great image quality for the price. Like most trail cameras, battery life varies a lot depending on the brand (don't use Aldi batteries with it). This is ideal for when you need good video but don't want your Reconyx Hyperfire to get pinched.
