This camera was the mutt's nuts when it was introduced. Pro-quality, solidly constructed, and the usual Olympus attention to detail. Even though its been left behind in the pixel count, the image quality of the micro 4/3 sensor is outstanding, and still holds up today. This means that bargains are to be had on the secondhand market. You can get a serious piece of equipment for the price of a basic point & shoot compact. It takes a wide range of interchangeable lenses from Olympus, Panasonic etc. ,which can also be had at reasonable cost. I'm really impressed with mine.

for the money you can pick these up for second habd these are superb cameras, I pimped mine with a wood vaneer kit and s nice leather ever ready case. 1960's look 2010 tech. Images are slightly over saturated as with the Panasonics. turn it down a little and Bingo amazing images. better than a small CCD sensor camera. Easy to use superb image quality and with all the expandability ascisitated with any interchangeabkle lens system. Stick a fast pancake on it and it really does work. descreet, fast sharp, light.
This is a brilliant buy at £260 new on ebay...well its supposed to be manufacturer refurbished...just seems like a ploy to me to sell off excess stock at great prices. OK this is not the latest all singing and dancing Pen model, but it only came out a short while ago for about £800. Irrespective its a great camera. I bought it because I got fed up lugging my big DSLR and lenses around. In fact I didnt lug them around, more often than not I took a compact because I couldn't face it, then got dissapointed when out and about with the compact not to be able to take the shots I wanted. Solution? Sell all my DSLR gear...Camera, bag, lenses x 3, filters, batteries, flashgun, and sell my Lumix compact. In all raise about £1500, and buy this for £260. It takes much better shots than the DSLR and the compact. It looks great. Its reasonably light and convenient. All I have bought to go with it is an FL20 flash (as new £50 on ebay), decided against the matching FL14...overpriced and not as good as the FL20. At £260 the EP1 with 14.42 is a steal and a great camera, and it is easy to live with its reported shortcoming (lack of viewfinder)...the screen works just fine for me.Read full review

The camera is wonderful. It has a great image, excellent in low light, compact, and very well built. It's perfect for someone who wants a good camera, with interchangeable lenses, and a much smaller piece than a traditional DLSR.
