Firstly, don't confuse this with the touchy-feely Twilight genre. Yes, it features a vampire and a warewolf, but trust me, it's worlds apart! The series features a blood tee-total vampire, a warewolf, and a ghost, all living together in the same house and trying to reclaim the scraps of humanity that were taken from them by their respective conditions. The programme follows each character's attempts at fitting in to regular society, holding a normal job, realting to other people, and keeping their conditions a secret - in essence, Being Human. The story is at times tense, serious, and has you on the edge of your seat. At other times, it can be hilariously funny, which breaks up the tension nicely. The relationships between the characters are honest and often touching, and despite the abnormaility of their situation, the friendships seem oddly realistic, in both their arguments and their agreements. The story is well-paced as it moves from episode to episode, and the cliffhangers leave you unable to just watch one and walk away. If you haven't seen it yet, I would urge you to give it a go - you will laugh, you will cry, and you will find out how difficult Being Human really is.Read full review

Not just your average supernatural tale. A beautifully written and fantastically acted drama/comedy series which encorporates the best of gothic horror and the worst of what it is to be human. Bought together out of a basic human need for normality, mitchell (a hundred- year old vampire) and george (a newly created werewolf) move into a flat in Bristol. There living arrangements are completed by a resident ghost, Annie, who loves to cook and make gallons of hot tea which she cannot drink. The drama unfolds when the characters' disorders threaten to encroach on their prescious domestic bliss. Mitchell (who is learning to be the vampire equivalent of a vegetarian) is constantly tempted to feed by Herrick (his creator). he is on the brink of slipping back into his previous habits. George tries nobly to keep his affliction separate from his 'normal' life. Annie has issues to resolve with her own death. You find yourself drawn fully into there lives and all that happens to them. Everyday problems are undercut by the turbulence and trauma that comes with being a vampire, werewolf or ghost. Practically every aspect of life, death and afterlife is tackled head on. I defy anybody that loves drama not to be addicted. Even with the dramatic ending of series 3 (will be buying for easter), i look forward to the screening of series 4! Just about to catch-up on missed episodes from series 2 - just what did happen with the box tunnel 20? Includes character profiles, extended/deleted scenes, blood bursting, the caves, unleashing the beast, the swinging sixties, behind the makeup, making the new werewolf, train carnage and hidden menus highly recommended! delisciously dark and subtly funnyRead full review
