The strimmer / brush cutter is a little confusing to put together as the instructions aren't the best, that said it only took me 30 mins. What is most difficult is figuring out how to put the harness on, that in itself took me 40 mins first time and even longer the second !!. The strimmer once fuelled fired up almost immediately and I ran it for 10 mins or so, next day I used it for 45 mins, it started easily and worked really well. I have used it again recently and again it started straight away. Unlike electric versions, the strimmer cord didn't snap at all and it was easy to release more when needed. Very powerful but fairly heavy and you definitely need the harness for support. All in all a great little machine and very well priced.

Progen 52cc petrol grass cutter/trimmer is the worse tool I ever had. It is cheap to buy, but completely useless. Cheap Chinese product. I had Bosh machine before, but it got stolen from my shed. So, I bought this cheap Progen tool. Big mistake! At first, the machine would not start. I struggled for an hour to start the machine. Then I tried to cut 8 inches long grass with supplied blade. The machine was struggling with the task. A week later I tried to use the machine again. No joy. It would not start at all. I cleaned the sparkplug, check the air filter, check the fuel supply. No matter what I do the machine just won’t start. Only waster two hours. Then hired a proper tool from local Tool Hire Shop. Progen petrol trimmer is total rubbish and complete waste of money.

Had the chance to buy this as a cheaper option than the usual brands the professionals would go for. I am a maintenance worker in education, aka a caretaker. The school I am in has a huge pond area about three tennis courts big that had been neglected for years and you literally couldn't see past the first foot or so of weeds it was that dense. Guess who has to cut the lot down? Me! 6/7ft high weeds, stinging nettles, thorns, ivy, the lot. The brush cutter head did what it was supposed to, and the strimmer line did what it was supposed to and mulched back the weeds and even 5mm stalks.. However. The bump feed jammed quite often with the supplied line, and did so too after buying the recommended size for replacement line, I think 2mm nylon line would work better. It is also a bit thirsty, but then again I was cutting through extremely dense vegetation. It is heavy so the supplied harness works well. I RECOMMEND THIS ITEM BIG BANG FOR BUCK AND EASY TO USE HOWEVER DO NOT BUY IF YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THE EDGING OF YOUR GARDEN, THIS IS A LARGE AND HEAVY DUTY CUTTER MORE SUITED FOR LANDSCAPING WELL OVERGROWN AREAS IN HUGE GARDENS OR GROUNDS MAINTENANCE. You need to know what you are doing if you buy this, as the instructions are a bit meh, such as there is no guide to reinstall nylon into the bump head once you run out (to begin you feed each end into the slots that are on the inner part of the black ring insert, and then you wind the cord round.) D THUMBS UP FROM ME.Read full review

Great 'domestic' petrol strimmer/brushcutter. Very comprehensive kit etc included in price, although the harness is a bit of a trial to work out - but for the money, a minor point. Always easy to start, and once set up for balance & reach for the user's height, very easy to use for long periods. Although not included in the otherwise good kit, ear defenders are a must as should be eye protection...both are really a matter of common sense. I've used premium quality equipment as a Wildlife Reserve volunteer, and I consider that this one can hold it's own with them for use for domestic purposes.............get's my vote!

Much easier to use than most strimmers I have owed before, the harness takes the weight and the two handles allow you to control the cutter. The motor is a fairly common Chinese one so parts should not be a problem. Overall a well made machine and very good value.
