The Asus A8N-SLI MB is a great SLI system board. If your looking to upgrade you current PC to SLI take a look at this. The one thing that made me buy it is, it takes IDE hard drives as well as SATA hard drives and it takes DDR memory and as I already run 2gig it saved me a lump of cash. OK it only runs 939 CPU's, but there are still loads about and with speeds upto 2.8GIG they are still fast. Fill the SLI slots with something like the 7600GT and you have a PC which will play any of the games out today. With upto 10 USB slots, 6.1 sound, twin LAN connections and the choice of IDE or SATA connections, you have a board that will last for a while. There are a few draw backs. If you are looking to upgrade to this board the one thing you must do is upgrade your PSU. 600 watt is min anything less and the PC becomes unstable, also if you going to use the SLI slots the PSU must be SLI certified. Yes it will only take 4GIG of RAM but if you need more your going to be running a AM2 CPU anyway. I suppose the main drawback is spare parts. At the moment 939x2 CPU'2 are easy to come by but soon, only the AM2 will be made so replacing the CPU will become harder to do. At the moment I think this is a great board to start looking into SLI without having to replace everything inside the case. One more thing, for the over clockers out there, this board can be seriously over clocked.Read full review
Hello, I brought this board in 2008, i was interested Overclocking but i was not an Expert, this board has got many Special Features that allows Users to Overclock the machine Safely. without harming any Components, When the board worked, it worked great. I had my 3200+ overclocked from 2.0 to 2.22 GHz. The PC ran fine and I had absolutely no issues. The A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard offers a wide variety of features that are not easily found in other, similar motherboards. It supports all nForce4 innovations, along with AMD's cutting edge technologies such as Cool'n'Quiet. OVERCLOCKING Features :- AI NOS? (Non-delay Overclocking System) AI Overclocking (intelligent CPU frequency tuner) ASUS PEG Link for single/dual graphics cards Precision Tweaker: - vDIMM: 9-step DRAM voltage control - vCore: Adjustable CPU voltage at 0.0125 increment - SFS (Stepless Frequency Selection): allowing FSB tuning from 200MHz up to 400MHz at 1MHz increment - PCIe Frequency: allowing PCIe frequency from 100MHz up to 200MHz at 1MHz increment Adjustable FSB/DDR ratio. Fixed PCIe/PCI/SATA frequencies. ASUS PEG Link for single/dual graphics cards ASUS C.P.R.(CPU Parameter Recall) I will Say Awesome !!!Read full review
This is a beautiful richely feature packed motherboard! I'd forgotten why I used to build systems with this motherboard, so when one came up on eBay to repair a system I couldn't resist. It not only fixes the system but speeds it up and adds features that weren't present already! Thanks ASUS
I have had a couple of these in different variants: SE, Deluxe and Compaq's version. Some were made in China some in Taiwan. This picture shows the Deluxe with the OEM noisy Nort-bridge fan and a small and battered but surprisingly quiet stock fan with a 4400X2 chip underneath. My first back in 2006 had a 3200, I swopped out for a 4200 which now sits in the ex-Compaq and I got the Deluxe to replace the original SE which I broke trying to take the fan off to clean before we get our summer. These boards are as good as it gets for AMD socket 939 and DDR. We don't do anything demanding like games, only MS Ofice and internet browsing. Maybe when support for XP is ended I'll have to move on to something with more poke but no reason to change for now. Steer clear of HP or Compaq ex business machines' boards get the original disc and manual each is subtly different. Use the Asus software and enjoy. I also use passive north bridge cooler and a flower cooler from QuietPC.com Go for it!Read full review
