I've always been a fun of AKG because of several attributes they instill into their products and they are all present in this set as well. They are very comfy, and quite light so no trouble wearing them for extended periods. They are very well made and feel that they will last quite a bit. Except the proprietary cable which does feel flimsy and may not last as long as the rest of the set if you use it for travelling on a daily basis. They do offer some noise isolation but they also leak sound, since they really can play as loud as any ear can withstand. Which is not recommended btw! After you allow them around 50 hours to "break them in", they sound lovely. Very low and full bass, warm mids, and not very bright highs, so you can argue that they lack treble in comparison, so take that into consideration when deciding on 'phones. They do lack the clarity of some top end headphones but for 30 pounds, you'll be really hard pressed to find equals. They really do excel with electronic music but be aware that the more juice you can provide them, the better they perform, so if your mp3 player is weak, maybe these are not ideal for you. Connected to a PC sound card though they shine. I love them and I use them daily while I work, though for travelling I still prefer my in-ears because of the noise isolation.Read full review
First impressions, well made, quality materials, excellent carrying pouch and gold plated wires...sound at first was a 7/10. After replacing with an oxygen free wire with quality plugs and over 100 hours of music of varying genres the headphones are transformed, deep bass, clear vocals with no mid range muddle as out of the box...new score 9.5/10. For the money they are superb, buy a pair and you will find out for yourself... Copy spot...originals have AKG embossed on all wires, copy don't Originals have double notch on bottom of cans, copys dont, When folded and on a flat surface, originals sit flat, copys don't When you fold or unfold originals they will click in place, copy won't Dont buy from hong kong, there are US sellers too selling fakes... Richer sounds are cheapest at £49.99...and carry a 2 year warranty. I hope this helps potential buyers...cheersRead full review
These are great! Very portable, keep external noise to a minimum, so I can wear them while driving or on train or tube. The sound quality is very good. As others have said, the bass is more pronounced than on other headphones (main comparison is Grado SR80), but it is clear and well-formed. When using these headphones on the move I think the increased bass tones help to maintain the integrity and balance of the music and I am extremely happy with their dynamics. I bought an after-market cable from e-bay, with a more substantial jack-plug. These have enhanced the clarity a little. No doubt significantly more expensive headphones will sound better (or at least different), but given the price and portability of these I think they are absolutely fantastic.
Having a BEATS smartphone the obvious choice would be the beats headphones, but after looking through all the reviews came across these as WHAT HIFI product of the year 2012. At half the price of the beats I decided to opt for these and I am not disappointed. Light and compact the soft ear pads fit comfortably on the ears. The sound is crisp and clear perfect to my unprofessional ears.Cable is a little thin but has held strong when accidently caught on things but good news the headphones are plug in not hard wired so can easily be changed. They also come with a neat compact case to store them in in my view you can not go wrong
Great sound quality, lightweight and robust. Just right for the gym. I would recommend.
