I bought this to listen to (mostly classical) music cds whilst sitting in the garden/summerhouse. Sound quality is a subjective matter, and obviously depends a lot on what you're prepared to pay, type of equipment, circumstances of use etc.; having regard to these factors, I find the quality very satisfactory - I've heard some dreadful sounds from cheap portable equipment. I shan't use the radio (no signal available), but the chance to dig out some of my old cassette tapes is a bonus! It's compact and easy to use; obviously I can't yet comment on durability.

The JVC RC-D327B I purchased was described as "ex-display/demo" and a leaflet inside the box told me it had come from Curry's PC World. It worked fine with reasonable sound quality, but only for 15 minutes when it went into standby mid-track. I discovered this model has an energy-saving feature which puts it into standby after 15 minutes when the volume is turned right down or nothing is being played and this was malfunctioning. A customer review on Currys PC World's website refers to the same problem. There seem to be a lot of these "ex-display/demo" units for sale and I'm wondering if some are really customer returns that haven't been adequately checked by retailers like Currys PC World before being off-loaded. Be aware the JVC RC-D327B will only play MP3s from a USB stick. Although it will play CD-Rs it will not play MP3s recorded on them. I would have been happy with the JVC RC-D327B had it worked properly. In hindsight I would not have bought one that was "ex-demo/display". Read full review

I purchased the JVC Boombox from Ebay as l was looking for an all in one system that l could move around and this fits the bill to a tee. I have still got loads of cassettes which l need to play and this has it all and more. The price was really good compared to a brand new one and when it came there were only a few scratches on it. I have put that it is not durable, which is right with plastic, if you drop it, it will break.

First be aware of one issue - although in the sales it is stated that the set can use CD-RW the CD player cannot read the MP3 files on a CD-RW. In fact this is specified in the manual. It only has DAB not DAB+ If you are not bothered about the above you have all the following wonderful features except for Bass or Treble control and some slight lack of quality manufacturing. can play cassette tape, normal/standard music CD's, FM and DAB Radios, MP3 files stored on USB pen and even allows music streaming from any Bluetooth device easily. It also has all input/output port on the top next to each other. that is headphone socket, Aux-in socket and USB port for playing MP3 file. I hope you find this review useful. Sam

The player does what I wanted. The Dab radio is good quality and quite easy to program if you read the manual (sourced online, as it didn't come with one). The overall sound quality is only average as there are no options to change treble or bass and no equaliser. I had a Bush 7070 ghetto blaster back in the day and though it only had a tape and am/FM radio it was a thousand times better in terms of sound quality and adjustability. But these options are'nt available out there so this does the job for me - an audiophile will hate the sound quality but without spending hundreds of pounds on hi fi separates you really can't do much better. A thank you to the seller for prompt delivery and the condition of the unit was good.
