Awesome plug and play replacement for 20 year old quartz version. Just power off, undo two front screws, of old unit, pull the 5 labelled connectors from old front panel, and replace with those same numbered connectors of new panel. Screw new panel on. Bingo! No need to replace entire wall unit or fixed wiring. Best part is, the new digital version allows any length ON time (and up to 3 ON periods per day). So we have set the ON time to be just 1.5 hours instead of the fixed 4.5 hours of the old mechanical unit. Much better water temperature, and less power use. May change length as winter approaches.

Easy to install and set up. No frayed nerves wondering if it will work, it does! Design and manufacturing quality is superb-indicates some real thought behind this device, the fact that it is also backwards compatible with the older back plate that I had already fitted some years ago made the job much much easier. Since cutting back the water heating time overnight (immersion heater) using this timer, I'm already very happy with the downward direction of my electricity bill!

This item was so easy to install.Just had to change over the numbered tabs.No need for a screwdriver (except to open the box). The free mains tester screwdriver was usefull for checking that the wireing was safe when open.Had to reset the timer and gmt switch to my requirements however .No problem as the the instructions were so comprehensive and easy to follow. This company has got it right for a replacement item. The box is of good quality and looks great. No downside to this product.

Excellent retrofit product, you don't even need to remove the old back plate and mains wiring if you didn't want to, this will directly fit and only requires 5 spade connectors to be pushed on numbered terminals and then the two securing screws for the face plate and you're done. The only two minor neg's I can think of are that while it has a pretty green backlighting on the LCD display (temporary, when buttons are pressed) and an orange glow boost button, the small red LED timer light is extremely bright, lazer like if you looked directly at it. And the Horstmann company is being changed to Secure, and that legend makes this box look more like a burglar alarm than an immersion heater timer.

This fit the original Horstmann back box, so just had to replace the front which my original was an early basic digital one, 22 year old plus. The numbered terminals on the new control panel matched the numbered terminals of the old back box, so just switch off the electrical supply to plug the terminals in
