Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Save on Decoders
Bought this to convert a 50 year old Tri-ang Princess Victoria, having not realised the standard decoder cannot supply enough current for the older style X03/04 motors. The transformation was quite amazing, it brought a whole new lease of life to the old train, and the control now offered was quite something. It does however require meticulously clean track and wheels, but the slow running it brings compared with the old controllers makes it all worth while. A tad expensive at around £35, could be an expensive job to convert a big set over to DCC. There is no wiring schedule in the booklet unlike the standard decoder but the info should avialable online, as the decoder is primarily aimed at DCC ready trains and not pre DCC models such as I have used it on.

I find these excellent decoders probably as good as most out there but over the last 12 months they have become way to expensive when you think that you can now pick up Lenz cheaper.

I have stopped buying the cheaper decoders as I have had nothing but trouble with them The Hornby Sapphire decoder is excellent in every loco I have fitted it in, The response is second d to none and it has an immense amount of settings you can change. There are however two negatives to this decoder one being the price it is now becoming way over priced when you look at the cost of similar products, The second and most annoying is the wires used on the harness easily break off the end sockets and need a very good solderer to fix back otherwise this is as good as the best out there.
