Seems to do what it says. Burns for a long time, creating plenty of vapours for maximum exposure to the affected area. Over the next two weeks the tar smell disappears and fine soot falls back down the chimney. Seems to have loosened some thicker pieces too that have also fallen. Will use again.

Burnt the log on its own in the stove as recommended, it has cleaned the fire bricks and the inside top of the stove, wait and see how it works in the flue? Good product

This product burns for several hours producing a lot of heat which is value in itself. It produces smoke which will obscure the stove door glass but is easily wiped away with a cloth. When re-firing the stove, all the black deposits left by burning the log disappear leaving all the firebricks and flu throat clean. The instructions do not say whether to use with the air controls shut or open. I left them shut to retain as much smoke in the system and for as long as possible.
