Excellent little device. I previously used a professional Nilfisk system with HEPA filter. This was a powerful and noisy device that was useless on carpets and damaged paintwork as I dragged it behind me. The Dyson can be carried, is just as powerful and I acquired a second hand brush extension that works like a dream on carpets as well. I thoroughly recommend this product.

This Dyson is excellent in terms of suction which is very powerful. The major design fault for me is the floor tool. Dyson have done away with the brush that went round the floor tool and replaced it with a useless piece of rubber. You can still toggle the floor tool to 'flatten out' for carpet and rugs or have it 'unflattened' so you can do hard floors. In the 'unflattened' mode is where I had problems as the rubber piece is then in contact with floor, and rather than it being a brush, it just snags along the floor and scrapes. My previous Dyson was the DC5 and the floor tool on this had the retractable brush all the way round so I now have to use a piece of rubber. The wand now has a suction release trigger which is ideal when you want to do curtains but the hand held part is overly large and clunky as is the main extendable pipe. The long narrow pipe attachment for going under things is too thick and wide and compared to the old tool I had for the DC5 and is mainly too big for getting in small places. On the plus side, the small brush tool is excellent as it has long soft bristles and combined with the powerful suction can easily get into small places effectively and is far better than my round one for the DC5. I was disappointed with this Dyson and actually arranged to send it back. Something did stop me however, after I gave it another more extensive trial and I have decided I like it enough to keep even though I still hate the floor tool. Having looked at other Dysons, and spoken to Dyson it would seem the floor tools are all similar in terms of the hated rubber bit. You also cannot interchange the tools with different models which would have been a great plus point for the customer although of course not a great marketing ploy for Dyson.Read full review

Pros - easy to manoeuvre, compact, great suction Cons - tube does not 'dock' securely onto body. It feels flimsy and unstable and falls off easily making storage untidy - tools are stored on a holster on the handle...any even slightly vigorous action makes them drop off. Earlier models stored them on the body of the machine. This is a retrograde step. - Head unit has a hard/soft floor setting. But even my full (men's) weight could not change from one to another. You have to pick it up (or get down on your knees) and do it by hand (which then happens very easily). Don't know why it's so hard to do with your foot....I think it's impossible to get the right angle on it without doing it by hand. Dyson know how to do this stuff....so it is really frustrating to see that they have gone backwards in this later model (my old one was a DC 19...it died, but was the better machine when alive). This is enough for me to recommend looking elsewhere.Read full review

Absolutely love this hoover. You would never know it is refurbished, looks and performs as brand new. I use this daily in my job as a housekeeper, makes my life easy as it is light enough to manoeuvre and carry if need be while doing stairs etc. Transitions from hard floor to carpet no problem. Tools are super easy to attach and very effective at getting in to awkward spaces. Great!

Easy to assemble two extra tools carried on the solid handle and the most important thing is strong suction. When it comes to emptying the bin it is very easy, if the switch is a little stiff but I put that down to newness. Cord rewind is good without the cable rewinding too quickly. All in all a happy purchaser.
