After a few years of reviewing speakers and changing my mind of which ones to get, I narrowed it down to either the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 and these going on my limited budget. Since the late 90's I had the pleasure of owning a Kenwood series 21 which even now sounds good, 100 wpc, 6ohm and linked to my panasonic blu ray via 5.1 analogue out, the sound I thought was really good. But it did lack something, weight. My friend had got himself a Marantz av linked to a nice set of B&Ws, and even though his room is acoustically different to mine, concrete walls and wooden floor, the sound was so much more clearer and 'weightier'. Well history over, finally decided to start the change and upgraded to a new Marantz av, another few years of reviewing, and a new sub, BK400, and still running my kenwoods, Big difference in sound, but still not quite there compared to the B&Ws, will I ever get there. Now down to the KEF Q300, why these over the MA's and the forgot to mention Dali's, well considering I've done no listening to any of these, I put my faith in the one's that have. Firstly I could not have Dali as my room layout means I have to toe in my fronts, no good with the Dali's. Next Kef vs MA, well, very slightly better reviews on Kef, that's all, not much. Well so far sound is great, finally got that clarity that I hear from the B&Ws. As they are standmounts, I run them with the sub for music, wow, impressed, only been sampling at the moment as only had them for a weekend so far but whatever I've thrown at them they handle it great, from a bit of jazz, electronic or chill out. One thing I've noticed is female vocals, almost sounds like they are in the room. I could go on a bit more but am new to these and do need my friends ears on them and to compare against his B&Ws, and to do a lot more testing but so far.....I'm smilingRead full review

You won't find a better speaker for the price (depending on your taste.) They have a very wide sweet-spot, and very little comb filtering as you move around the room. Bass extension is incredible for a driver this size. My only negative was the tweeter can get a little harsh for nearfield listening, however this smoothed out at greater distances.

Kef really do know how to make top speakers. Big sound, with great bass extension and warmth. These were What HiFi award winners, and they really sound excellent, sweet open treble and midrange well interacted together and with the bass too, that permiates the entire room for a really holographic stereo image. Once you get Uni-Q, you won't go back, just wow! :-) :-) Excellent value, build, sound, and looks
