I recently bought an anti-static work mat for my workshop. Although it was sold as such I wanted to make sure that it did not effect the sensitive equipment I work on. As there was no easy way to fix a earthing strap to this mat I obtained these studs to solve the problem. I bent the legs of the studs to 90 degrees so they all faced down. I pushed them onto the mat and then cut the slots with a sharp knife. The lugs were long enough to go through the mat and fold over. I placed one stud at the top of the mat and one at the bottom. i joined them together with a fine wire on the back of the mat and fixed the top stud to the earthing post on my power supply. My wrist strap to the lower one.I would suggest this 'mod' to anyone worried about static charges.
