So, this is a film from my childhood. I only remembered the name and nothing else about it, but one night after hearing a reference to it in another film, I had to buy it. Now, I've watched it about 30 times in the few weeks we've had it! It is such a wonderful story. Sad, but wonderful. It paints a great picture of history, it's based off of real events, and maintains the context right the way through. It is a beautiful portrayal of Jewish life and certainly eye opening. I think that it's a must-see kind of film.
A light hearted look at a serious issue that faces all Jewish people. Persecuted for being Gods people. Yet under the circumstances of great suffering they pick up the pieces and get on with life, looking for their Messiah.

This is by far one of my favourite films. It makes me laugh and cry in equal measure. The cinematography is just superb and the characters so engaging. Every household should have this film and make it a ... tradition!
