An excellent all-round vacuum cleaner. Usual Dyson advantages/disadvantages. The main one being, once you have used one, it makes it very difficult to go back to a different make of cleaner, it is so powerful. If you were to vacuum a room, leave unused for 24 hours, and vacuum again, it will always find more dust to pick up ! The mains lead could do with being a little longer, and the extension tube for the tools can be difficult to use, as the suction generated, keeps trying to retract the tube back to the cleaner. The mechanism to release the cleaner from the "parked" upright position can be difficult for newcomers to this machine. BUT, these are small niggles on a perfectly good machine. I particularly like the easily emptied dust container.
The machine is excellent and lives up to all of the advertising.h However, the machine appears to be made entirely of plastic.. apart from the screws and motor and although the design is great it is also complicated and this raises questions about longevity and durability. Suction and manoeuvrability are excellent but with all of the many design features winder why it is necessary to switch the settings manually from solid floor to carpet mode. Minor point on a fine cleaner!
It is light and quite easily manoeuvrable, with the ball aiding the movement. It has a strong suction power, but the cylinder fills quite quickly and has to be emptied. It would be best in quite a small space - our house is a little big for it (4 bed), but that said, we like it and appreciate its strong suction power. The tools are easily used once you know how - look carefully at instructions.
The DC24 is a terrific machine for it's size and weight. It is powerful and easy to use, the ball design making it very manoeuvrable. The fully retracting handle makes it easy to store in a cupboard or under the stairs. It's light weight makes it easy to carry, and unlike some other machines both of it's filters are washable. The only down side is the tank capacity which requires more frequent emptying but this is easily accomplished.
This is the second Dyson DC24 that I have bought. I first bought a DC24I and liked it so much that I have now bought this one for my holiday home too! The only difference with the DC24I and the DC24 is that they are a diffenent colour and you get an extra dusting brush/tool with the DC24I. The Dyson DC24 Multi Floor is light, compact and so easy to manoeuvre, yet still picks up an amazing amount of dust (quite scary really as we have a very clean home and vacum every day). True, you have to empty the canister more often but it is so easy to empty that it is no bother. It works quite well on stairs too with tool provided. The cable is a bit shorter than other uprights but not a problem. Just remember to wash the filters monthly and there wont be any problem with suction. It is so light compared to some others and so easy to manoeuvre around furniture. It makes vacuming quite effortless and not a chore. It is easy to carry it upstairs and works well on all types of floor. It takes up less space when not in use, which is a bonus too. I think it would be particularly useful for anyone with mobility/health problems as it is light and easy to move about and also good for smaller properties where a large vacum is constricting. All in all, I am very happy with this Dyson and have recommended it to quite a few of my friends and relatives.Read full review
