Performs well and is quieter than most DVD drives. At first it would not recognise a blank DVD disk but this was a problem with the latest Windows update altering a registry setting. Found the answer on Microsoft forums. Probably specific to my pc. Really no need to buy anything better

I brought this after reading that it was not fussy about which disks it would burn. I have packs of double layer disks my old burner just would not burn discs without errors, they are all well konwn brands Traxdata etc. This new burner is just as fussy so for me it's a total waste of money.

Works well. Used to read and write on a variety on DVD/CD recordable and 'rw type media brands without a single issue. No problems regardless of the software used for playback or write functions. A simple plug and play device that delivers.

This was easy to install and works great. Drive runs quietly (although not silent, but what DVD drives are?) and has been working flawlessly for the past hour ripping DVD's to my HDD. I assume the x24 speed is for CD's only because I'm getting about 5.5x ripping DVD's but honestly that's fine for me. It feels like a solid drive in terms of build quality and I imagine I'll run out of use for it well before it dies. I know a lot of people don't add optical drives to new PC's any more but if you have a spare bay available then it seems like a no brainer to add one of these because they're so cheap!

My last DVD Writer also a Lite-On after a number of years finally stopped reading the disc, so knowing how long they can last for i find the Lite-On DVD Writer very reliable, to use, as simple as popping in a disc and click go that is once you've connected it, the sound level while writing can be heard if your in a quiet room but compared to many other DVD writers and I've tried a few over the years i would say this DVD Drive beats them, regardless which type of disc you throw at it, it writes on them without a glitch and as it's SATA it takes full advantage of the maximum data transfer meaning it's quick at burning but also quiet one step from silent i find. Now the big question, value for money, many will search for the cheapest drive to burn their data but for £12.00 i think i paid is a bargain, sure you could buy cheaper but what quality of finish will you get and the noise level from it, this DVD Writer as far as I'm concerned is there at the top with some of the best drive that would cost far more then £12.00 but, what makes this drive also stand out is once you've connected it, it really is click and go no drivers really needed, it's that simple, absolute value for money and should i need extra drives or a replacement drive, it will be Lite-On as I'm one person that stays with a trusted product.
