I've wanted a stand mixer for a very long time. I like to bake and was using a hand held mixer for all of my baking needs. The stand mixer is fast and easy and take very little energy to whip up a cookie dough, etc. and the ingredients are mixed up well in a matter of minutes.

I have one of the originals of this same machine dating back to the 70s that I use mostly for bread. It is a beast. This newer one, stalls and squeaks when I make a loaf of bread with over 2 cups of flour, which is disappointing and disconcerting. It arrived without a bread hook which I had to track down and order separately. I’m hoping this new one will not die. I like to make my own breads, doughs, pie crusts, and scones which are heavy and thick. If I wanted to make cake batter and whipped cream , I would have just stuck with a hand mixer.

Have always wanted a Kitchen-Aid and thanks to E-bay finally found one that was affordable. Do tons of baking so this has been a godsend! Bought the flour shield and an extra bowl and will probably add the pasta maker and meat grinder. Plenty of power, fantastic piece of equipment!!

This is a workhorse of an appliance if you bake regularly. The dough hook works fine on bread doughs ONLY in the low power positions (my husband burned out the motor with my first mixer doing this, decades ago.) We have used the accessories to grind meat for homemade sausage. It is big and heavy and takes up counter space. I store mine in the pantry with a cover because I have a small kitchen.

I have wanted a Kitchenaid for so long and I finally decided to dive in and get one. This machine is much quieter than my previous mixer. It does an excellent job mixing soft batter and cookie dough. I haven't tried bread dough yet. The glossy enamel finish looks good in the kitchen. I look forward to collecting the attachments to expand it's capabilities. The only thing I miss from my old machine is the mixing timer. If I had to mix cake batter for 2 minutes or knead dough for ten I could set the timer. I was free to work on something else and the mixer would shut off automatically. I recommend the addition of the scraper beater. To eliminate the need to stop the machine and scrape the sides. Overall I am very pleased with the performance and appearance of my Kitchenaid. And, thanks to the deal I got on E-Bay, I got a good price as well. Read full review
