Tried it for the first time yesterday to cook a whole chicken on the smoker, and it didn't go very well, charcoal went out after about an hour, have read up on this style and a lot of people have drilled holes in ash pan for circulation, so hopefully this will help, if this does work then I can see this being used regular. It's a pity it doesn't come with the ash pan pre drilled.

Maintaining a heat for smoking is almost impossible, it needs to be constantly fed fuel to keep the heat at the right temperature. On the plus side, after 8 hours of smoking, my brisket came out devine.
