Excellent mobo, lots of features and probably the best socket 939 board available. Premium includes a substantial chipset heat sink which is a major improvement from the chipset fan on the deluxe version. Watch the CMOS battery clips as they sometimes dont attach firmly and your OS wont save on shutdown. I just bent these back on themselves to ensure a strong connection. Driver CD is complete and bios can be updated via the asus website rather than having to flash. Buying this new will include a whole range of accessories including cables. Great package.
superb motherboard only thing to look out for is the chipset fans do fail ..just replace with a passive heatsink.. and check the flip card for selecting 1 or 2 graphics cards as they can be abused and not clip down properly.. both the pci-e slots work at 16x but when you place two pci-e cards in them they slow down to 8x ..not so bad in real terms as it will still blow any agp card away ..you will need a 600w psu to use both pci-e slots and 4 sata hard disks + 1 dvd-rom + 2 dvd-rw as this was our 8th asus board {3rd sli mobo} it has been faultless so far .. if you update the bios be aware that it will reset the bios settings to the default settings.. otherwise great for gaming and real world computing 10 out of 10
This was the nearest board to my now deceased board, which died of a chipset fan failure. This Asus has a fanless chipset system so should not happen on this board. Quite nippy and plays Doom3 flawlessly.
The speed increase of the board over the A8V Deluxe is about 25%. This board is perfect for the later dual core processors and will still play any game n the market.
