Well worth the effort to cure a smoking Kenwood.

Once you know where the five components are supposed to fit, then desoldering the old and soldering on the new is a doddle, and the mixer now works well with a little adjustment of the speed range using the two sprung screws holding the circuit board in place. A bit of advice: Components are more easily soldered on with the motor completely removed from the Kenwood housing and secured in a Workmate or vice. But make absolutely sure when the motor is replaced that the drive belt is properly tensioned (by means of one of the nylon bush cams) and doesn't ride up on the gears before the top abs plastic cover is screwed back on. Otherwise the rotating belt could catch on and melt the plastic cover.

Affordable, but came with broken or wrong component.

Generally good and affordable, but the triac I received was broken, or the wrong type, as the mixer was stuck on max speed. I ended up reusing the old triac, which still worked just fine. As for longevity I don't know, but I hope the mixer will last another 40 years.

  • revives the old kenwood A901

This kit is great for reviving the old kenwood A901 its fairly simple to install although the triac needs a bit of work to get off. Note it dosent repair a burnt out motor but the electronic parts that have given up the ghost. the instructions are fairly simple to follow, its also best to take Photos or make a note of the positions to help you. after about 1hr of work your vintage kenwood chef should work again. better than throwing it out i think!

  • Kenwood chef works again

Mixer smoked so thought dead. However, this kit has brought it back to life. A bit fiddly to solder on as other wires in the way. Beware, the triac is held on by a nut and bolt so not easy to reinstall. I also replaced the feet. For £16 our 35 year old chef is fully operational. Great!

  • Clear Instructions - easy to follow

This is a great set of components which overcomes the common problems of ageing capacitors blowing in these machines. Good instructions with pictures to make sure you connect up correctly. A few pounds to resurrect a 30 year old machine which is now working perfectly. The biggest problem I had was nothing to do with the kit - the amount of solder used by the manufacturer meant my iron was not powerful enough to melt it easily!
