I am glad I bought this. My old Etrex had no maps in, but had given me such great service over the years. It was time for an upgrade. This one has a World base map. It has Western European maps preloaded. But for me the clincher is the SD card allows open source maps to be added. These are amazingly up to date (at least locally for me). The user interface is strange, but the touch screen is a real advantage. The screen lacks pixels by the standards of today. It is a bit like having both tunnel vision and a microscope when comparing to a paper chart. I like the AA rechargeable batteries and the independence from a mobile network or phone. I think it can save lives. It feels robust and well made. Delivery and packaging was perfect.
