A bit cheesy at times but Costner is great and Whitney is, well there will only ever be one Whitney..

A film that has not dated well despite a typically earnest performance from Costner. Put simply, Whitney Houston could not act and the dance numbers are too infrequent. She looks stunning, but itis really sad to think that she was already doing drugs at this stage of her career. The plot itself is too clunky and the will they won't they merely concerns his status as a bodyguard. Still a film to watch on a wet Sunday and reminisce about the greatest female voice of a generation.

Kevin Costner is the bodyguard of a fictional singer, played by Whitney Houston. The unique feature of this movie is Houston's genuine star presence and singing, in a rare film performance. Other strengths include Costner's strong, silent commitment to duty, the realistic portrayal of a star's entourage, and a great early crowd-surfing scene. As usual with Costner, there are long pauses after each sentence to allow the audience to think about every possible nuance. The chemistry between the two leads is OK, but doesn't match that of Berenger & Rogers in the similarly-themed Someone to Watch Over Me. The plot is a bit predictable, and doesn't match the sustained tension of Eastwood's In the Line of Fire. The action scenes are also OK, but on a smaller scale than the contemporaneous Die Hard & Lethal Weapon franchises. Overall 5.5/10.Read full review

Ideal for Whitney Houston fans, her acting skills however do not match the quality of her voice. Good story line however.
