I have to admit I was expecting something a little more close knit, this is very gappy and I certainly would not describe it as being a cheese cloth fabric, which is something that was worn in the 70's and you would only need one layer of cloth. I don't think it can be described as butter muslin either which is traditionally used in one layer. I make tofu which is made similarly to cheese in as much as it separates into curds and whey and the only way this cloth can be used successfully is folded with four layers. This cloth is only good value because there is so much of it and it can be layered successfully.

I think buyers need to be aware this is gauze and not muslin and could not be used for straining anything at all as it is just a mesh with big holes. (maybe I should have looked more closely at the picture to see it wasnt really muslin) I did buy it for staining herbs, but even quadrupled over it is not fine enough. I will have to find some sure for it now I've bought it but it wont be for straining anything through

So thin and weak it is no good for clothes as it comes apart very easy. I can find something to use it but only because I make moulds for pottery as well.
