The Casio CTK 491 is a great, affordable synthesizer for home and live performance. It can also be made into a multi-functional home studio synth with the addition of an effects processor. There are many great sounds to explore, with tones to fit every genre of music. It's fully polyphonic, touch sensitive and feels good under the fingers. For beginners, there's a song bank with 100 songs to play along with, a simple drum machine with 100 rhythms and a few other tools to help with the learning process. Tempos and keys can be changed with the touch of a button... It's sound can be transferred through MIDI or via the headphone jack... It has a microphone input for those who want to sing along... And it can be powered with an AC adaptor or batteries... I have had similar synths in the past, but I am quite happy with this Casio. For this type of synthesizer, I strongly recommend going with an older used synth like this than modern, similar looking, unbranded, ultra inexpensive synths that are currently on the market.Read full review

I bought this for a MIDI controller for hauptwerk.com (a virtual pipe organ program) in a performance/stage situation. It is nice when you don't need touch sensitivity, which is not necessary for organ pieces. It is also good when you only need 5 octaves, not 7-1/4. I could do without the bells and whistles, but for an inexpensive used MIDI controller, this is the real deal. I do intend to tap into the key switches to use an AGO pedalboard with reed switches, and this is also much cheaper than a MIDI encoder board, but just as functional. I plan to get a few more of these keyboards over time, may end up encoding an entire 3-manual organ with them.
Bought the product for my wife. She used to play the piano. Didn't like how it was shipped you could tell the carrier had dropped it and it did some damage. It compares to others fine. It is just unhappy about it being broken in some area's.
I'm an adult piano student and wanted an inexpensive keyboard for practice. This suits my needs very well. It has lots of "extras" - rhythms, tones, songs, etc.
For me this is a fine full sized keyboard. It was in good shape and sounds good to me. It might be an older model but everything on it works as it should. It was a good deal, it was shipped very quickly and I use and tinker with it almost daily.
