LEON Cast Iron Griddle Pan, Dia. 24cm
Product description
Product code: 84897706
This sturdy griddle pan is perfect for steaks, chicken breasts and all kinds of grilled vegetables. It's made from substantial cast iron, a material widely loved by cooking enthusiasts for its superior heat retention and even heat distribution. When properly cared for, cast iron will develop a non-stick patina that makes everyday cooking a breeze.
Please ensure the diameter of your pan matches the size of the induction hob cooking area. It's also oven safe to 240°C/475°F/Gas mark 9, so you can transfer it from the hob to the oven to finish off your cooking.
Cast iron pans should be allowed to cool before cleaning. Use hot water and a stiff brush to clean, then pat dry. Do not allow a cast iron pan to air dry. To remove stuck on food, use a mixture of hot oil, coarse salt and potato peels.
How to Season
Cast iron lasts for generations, but only if you treat it well. The secret ‘tis the season. You will need to regularly season your cast iron griddle casserole dish to stop it from rusting.
To do this, scrub your griddle pan in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Spread a thin layer of oil (vegetable oil works fine – no need to waste good extra virgin olive oil on this task) and rub into all of the crevices. Then, preheat your oven to 180°c and place the griddle pan on the middle rack. Let it bake for an hour then cool in the oven.
Every time you use your cast iron, you should wipe out any bits of food with a paper towel. If there are any stubborn stains, try scouring with salt and a little warm water. Try not to use soap, because this damages the seasoning. Then, once dry, use a paper towel to coat your cast iron with a thin layer of oil. This will help protect against rust. The griddle pan will continue to build up its seasoning as you cook with it.
Tips
- If your cast iron does rust, we recommend using a metal wire scrubber or stiff brush. We prefer to use salt to scrub, rather than soap. It keeps the non-stick seasoning coating on better.
- Do not marinate food in any of your cast iron cookware. Most marinades contain acid and this will damage the seasoning.
